Music

Music in Our School

Music plays a vibrant and important role in school life, giving students opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and performance skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

Our students enjoy a wide range of musical experiences throughout the year and are always enthusiastic about sharing their talents with the school community.

Tin Whistle

Many of our students are learning to play the tin whistle, developing important musical skills such as rhythm, listening, coordination, and performance confidence. Students from 1st – 6th Class learn the tin whistle as part of the music curriculum.

Through regular practice and group lessons, students gain an appreciation for music while enjoying the experience of learning together.

Monthly Assemblies

Music is regularly showcased during our monthly school assemblies, where students have the opportunity to perform for their classmates, peers and teachers. Each month, a class group is selected to perform a song or rhyme – a wonderful occasion of music, enjoyment and encouragement.

Christmas Concert

One of the highlights of the school year is our annual Christmas Concert, where students come together to perform festive songs and musical pieces for the school community.

The concert is a joyful celebration that brings together singing, instrumental music, and seasonal performances in a warm and festive atmosphere.

Trad Group

Our school is proud to support a growing Traditional Irish Music Group, where students can further develop their musical talents and appreciation for Irish music, culture and heritage.

To date, our Trad Group has played at our annual Christmas Concert, Céilí Mór and at the First Holy Communion. A highlight of their year to date was their participation in Tullamore TradFest’s Trad 4 Schools event in Coláiste Choilm.

We are delighted to see our students grow in confidence and enjoyment through music and look forward to many more performances and musical experiences throughout the year.
